NAME: Minnowleap GENDER: she-cat AGE: thirty-six moons CLAN: RiverClan POSITION: warrior
APPEARANCE:
PELT COLOR: white with orange and black patches PELT LENGTH: medium length, very fluffy in leafbare MARKINGS: distinctive calico patches EYE COLOR: green BUILD: her long limbs make her tall and her body has a slender shape. she's lithe and agile, and in great physical condition. her paws are large, as though she hasn't grown into them yet, and her face has a slight triangular appearance to it.
STRENGTHS:
Minnow trained as a warrior for several moons, so she has very good battle skills. She knows all of the basic moves and created a few unique ones of her own. Also, because she works herself constantly, she has pretty good stamina. She can stay awake for days, even though it often makes her crabby. She's an incredibly good warrior because of how much she trains herself, trying to perfect her skills. Her speed is also is also exceptional for a RiverClan cat. She likes to run around in her territory and have friendly races with friends. WEAKNESSES:
She always has trouble hunting, mostly because she can't concentrate for a long period of time. She usually makes too much noise, or she waits too long to pounce; sometimes it's the other way around and she pounces too soon. Minnowleap also isn't very strong because she has a slender figure and not much muscle. She didn't work her muscles much when she was an apprentice, and she just doesn't have the right body to build a lot of muscle. She also hasn't had an apprentice yet, so she has to train herself on a regular basis to make sure she doesn't get out of shape. Still, she can definitely put up a very good battle, and will probably win it.

Fears:
Minnowleap is absolutely terrified of foxes. If she gets the slightest whiff of one, she freeze in her tracks or turn and flee with her tail between her legs. As an apprentice, she used to boast about killing a fox and bringing it home for supper. Now, she can't imagine herself doing anything of the sort, not since she heard the stories the elders told her when she was a new apprentice. Now she'd rather die than face a fox.
Another fear is her fear of thunder storms. She shares with phobia with Cloudpoppy. It began after her mother died, since Darkstream had been out patrolling the borders. Their careless mother had decided to climb a tree, slipped, and fell to the death, breaking her neck and spinal cord. Now, even the slightest rumble of thunder makes Minnow's fur stand on end and she races into her den. This is probably the only time she is not her normal calm self.
Habits:
Minnow is extremely protective of her loved ones and is constantly making sure they are safe. It often gets annoying, but she can't help it. She's been showing this behavior ever since her mother died, so it's been a long time. It makes sense though that she wouldn't want to lose anymore kin.
She also rambles on when she nervous or excited. She hardly ever talks a lot, so it surprises most cats. It makes it obvious when she's nervous, and she hates it. It's just like a curse she was born with. She tries to avoid uncomfortable situations because of this, so it doesn't happen a whole lot.
RELATIONSHIPS:
MOTHER: Darkstream- dark brown tabby and white she-cat with deep amber eyes. She was very calm and trustworthy, and the clan loved her. As a warrior, she was brave and militant, but also very compassionate. She would strictly follow the warrior code, and has never killed a cat. She always gave a cat mercy, not matter what clan they were from or who they were, and never turned down a kit in pain. She was known for her big heart. She took Bluefrost as a mate, and she gave birth to Minnow and Cloudy. She was a great mother, and loved her kits dearly, teaching them all the morals they needed in life. On a stormy night when her kits were apprentices, she climbed a tree, but fell and ended up breaking her neck. Now she hunts in StarClan, but still watched over her kits. FATHER: Bluefrost- white tom with dark blue-gray patches; his green eyes are always bright. He's always been sociable, funny, and very patient. Besides that, he was a strong and loyal warrior. He would give his life to protect his beloved clan. After taking Darkstream as his mate, he was surprised when she quickly became pregnant. Once his two girls were born, she sort of kept his business. The challenge of fatherhood sort of scared him a little. He actually wasn't really in their life until they lost their mother. The tragedy brought them together, and he vowed to make up his absence to them. Minnow and Cloudy were glad to get to know their father, and soon they began to bond and grow closer. Many moons passed, and he now resides as an elder. SIBLINGS: Cloudpoppy- calico she-cat with cloud-shaped patched and blue eyes that are always bright and sparkling. Cloudy is Minnow's best friend, and no one could ever replace her. She always knows what to say to cheer her sister up, and she's pretty much like that with everyone. She loves to laugh and make others laugh; she does a good job at it too. No matter what sort of mood someone's in, she can lift their spirits. That's just the sort of cat she is, funny and bubbly. Cloudy has also always been outspoken, never afraid to say what's on her mind. If she had known that Minnow was planning to go out alone, she would have tried to stop her. She's also very curious and out-going, which can get her in trouble. MENTOR: Shadesplash- black tabby she-cat. She had large mackerel tabby stripes, giving her fur the appearance of being "splashed" with dark splash. Her paws her white and she also had a white locket on her chest and a white tail-tip. Her eyes were amber. Shadey was a caring mentor, but she was also absent-minded. Minnow was her first mentor, so she was inexperienced. She still did a pretty good job and Minnow respects her for that. CRUSH/MATE: Silentfall- pale ginger tom with darker tabby stripes. His eyes are rich hazel. They first met when he visited the RiverClan camp, collecting catmint for his medicine cat. At first, Minnow was nervous and cautious around him, since he was an enemy warrior, but she soon calmed down. There was soon a connection, and she felt sparks begin to fly. He asked her to meet her at the Island, and even though she's a medicine cat and he's from a rival clan, she agreed.
HISTORY:
Minnowkit was born just like most kits are, in the nursery. There were only two kits, her and her sister Cloudkit. Their mother Darkstream was so proud of her two daughters, as was their father, although he kept his distance. Being a father was a new thing to him, and he didn't really take part in their kit hood too much. Minnowkit and Cloudkit grew fast. Cloudkit was always the bubblier sister, and she spent most of her time in the elder's den, which Minnowkit could never understand. She spent more time exploring, mostly getting into things she shouldn't like the warrior's den and the medicine cat's den. And she almost always got caught. Little Minnowkit was lectured more times than she could count, but it never stopped her from getting into trouble. Of course, as time passed, she got less mischievous and calmed down a bit. She still had an adventurous streak though.
One day, she managed to break away from her mother's side and explore the camp. That is when she found the dirtplace tunnel. Most kits would stay away, but not Minnowkit. Not a kit who sought adventure! She squeezed through without anyone noticing and found herself in RiverClan's territory. Their camp is on a triangle of land in between two streams, so Minnowkit had to do a little bit of swimming. She managed to find a shallow part of the stream and waded to the other side. The sights and smells were amazing and enticing. She wanted so badly to go exploring, to look into every crack and crevice. But, she was only a kit, so the clan immediately noticed her disappearance. She was brought back into the camp after only a few short minutes of freedom.
Her apprentice ceremony came and went without much of note. She was apprenticed to Shadesplash, a young naive warrior. Her mentor couldn't wait to prove herself and promised Minnowpaw she would be the best mentor she could be. Minnowpaw never thought she was that great. The first day as an apprentice, her mentor took her to collect moss. Moss! Why'd she have the pick the most boring chore? Let's just say it put Minnow is a bad mood, while Cloudpaw was out chasing tadpoles in a stream. Minnow didn't want to hear about Cloudy's lovely day, and instead hibernated in her nest until morning, when she sneaked out with Foxfang and her sister, leaving Shadesplash wondering where she was.
When she returned from hunting with Cloudpaw and Foxfang, she was immediately sent to see Swanstar. For disobeying her mentor, her punishment was no meal that night and she had to tend to the elders for seven sunrises. Minnow was not pleased at all. Shadesplash tried to talk to her, but Minnow completely ignored her and stalked into her nest.
Even though she didn't like it, Minnowpaw was obedient and tended to the elders like she was supposed to. She grew a liking to a certain she-cat named Dewflower, who was one of the oldest cats in the clan, second only to Patchnose. She told Minnow stories while she worked, and gave her advice such as "I wouldn't wake Needletooth if I were you. He didn't get his name for nothing." It paid off too, because later on Needletooth made a younger apprentice cry for clawing his pelt accidentally. Minnow started off tolerating her punishment, but she grew to like it. She looked forward to seeing Dewflower, but not the stench of mouse bile. No cat likes that stuff. Once she was relieved of her duties, she still brought fresh-kill for Dewflower and would sit and listen to her raspy voice as she told another story.
When she returned to full time training, Shadesplash had turned stricter than she'd been before. She kept a close eye on Minnow, and the poor apprentice couldn't even go off to make dirt without being questioned. At least she was actually learning something now, as Shadesplash practiced battle tactics with Minnowpaw almost every day. Soon, her fighting talent were better than her hunting skills, so they started to focus more on them.
One night, a mighty thunderstorm struck the forest. The skies were black and tree trunks were bent and snapped in half. Every cat lay huddled in their dens, and no one in their right mind left the camp. That is, except for Darkstream. She had gone out a while before the storm hit on a solo hunting patrol. No one assigned her, she just felt like getting out. When she didn't return shortly after, Swanstar began to get worried. After the storm passed, she sent out a search patrol to look for the missing queen. They found her, but not the way they wanted to. She was found at the bottom of the tree, distorted and motionless. Her neck had been broken at an awkward angle, and her spine was rigid and fractured. It appeared that she had tried to climb the tree, but slipped and fell to her death. The patrol brought her back to vigil. Her kits were devastated. Minnowpaw and Cloudpaw were distraught and horrified and cried the moment they smelled death on their mother's fur. Luckily, they had their father, and Bluefrost caressed them all night during Darkstream's vigil. Somehow, the tragedy brought them closer together, and he tried to be there like he wasn't when they were kits.
Her first fishing trip was one to remember. Cloudpaw and Foxfang joined them for this one, for Cloudy didn't know how to fish yet either. Minnow was boasting the whole way there. "I'm going to catch a huge fish, bigger than me. Then I'm going to catch a badger and a fox and feed the whole clan." The two sisters laughed. This was the first time they trained together since the day Minnow got into trouble. When they got to the river, the two mentors started to explain the patience and time that goes into fishing. When it was finally time to try out their skills, Minnow ran right up and stared into the water. Soon, she noticed a dark shadow in the water, and then a flash of silver. She let out a yowl and flung herself into the current, clawing and biting at the water. Sort of obvious that the fish got away, but the current started to pull Minnow out to the deeper part of the river. She let out frantic cries, until Shadesplash called to her, telling her to stand up. Minnow stood up, with the water only lapping at her belly fur. Needless to say she was very embarrassed.
With her mother's death behind her, Minnow tried to focus more on her warrior training. It was her way of mourning, to work extremely hard to try to forget her sadness. By doing this, her and Shadesplash started to bond a bit more. Minnow was having some trouble with her battle training because she wasn't very strong. Shadey worked with her to help her develop her own battle strategy, and it helped Minnow a lot. She learned how to fight without having to depend on her strength. Using her mind, she actually won a practice fight with Shadesplash. The calico had never been more proud of herself. At the end of that moon, she and Shadey had finally created a more friendly mentor-apprentice relationship.
When she was twelve moons when Minnow got to take part in one of the most exciting moments in the clan. She got to help the medicine cat deliver kits. It wasn't planned, it just sort of happened. The pregnant queen was Petalstem, and she was very pregnant. Her belly was swollen with kits, and sometimes it moved on it's own, the kits were so big. Petalstem wanted to got on a walk one morning, even though Brightstep (the medicine cat) told her it would be best to stay in her nursery since her kits were literally due any hour. The queen refused, and Brightstep decided to accompany her. She asked Minnow to go with her, just in case something happened. As they were walking, Petalstem started to feel mild pains in her belly, and they soon intensified. Of coarse, just like Brightstep suspected, the queen went into labor in the middle of RiverClan territory. Minnow wasn't sure what to do, so she just turned into an obedient little minion and did exactly what Brightstep told her to do. "Have Petalstem suck on some snow" or "find some of this herb"; whatever it was, Minnowpaw did it. About two hours later, Petalstem had three beautiful kits suckling at her belly (convenient there were three grown cats to carry them home). As Minnow stared at the kits, she had a sudden realization that she wanted that to be her one day. Not the having kits in the middle of her territory, but to be a mother.
She went back to training soon after, and after a few vigorous moons of training, she had her warrior ceremony. It was the proudest moment of her life, and she knew she mother was looking down on her from StarClan. Her sat her vigil with her chest swelled with pride. Keeping her vow of silence was difficult though because all she wanted to do was talk with her sister about what they were going to do as warrior. Silence is golden, but Conversation is silver (ha ha).
Somehow, she made it through her silent vigil, but then she slept the rest of the day. Luckily, she and Cloudy both got assigned to the moonhigh patrol, so she managed to speak to her sister then. She was a warrior now, and it was so exhilarating. She couldn't wait to train her own apprentice, attend her first gathering as a warrior, and have kits of her own. Becoming a warrior was the most important moment of her life.
